         1. This morning we showed from the Scriptures how "Jesus worked and taught His followers to work."
         2. Doing good works is so important that Jesus dealt with it in His Sermon on the Mount.
             a. Doing good works is one way of letting our lights shine.
             b. As our lights shine we influence others for good.
         3. This evening we are searching the Scriptures for "instructions that relate to good works."

Discussion:

I.           AS  WE  DO  GOOD  WORKS,  LET  US  REMAIN  HUMBLE

         A. Jesus made this clear in Luke 17:10.
         B. We must avoid the mistake that Jesus pointed out in Matthew 23:5a.

II.          AS  WE  DO  GOOD  WORKS,  LET  US  DO  SO  FOR  THE  RIGHT  REWARD  (John 6:27)

III.         AS  WE  DO  GOOD  WORKS,  LET  US  WORK  TOGETHER  WITH  GOD

         A. This instruction is given in 1 Corinthians 3:9a.
         B. Let us remember that God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6).

IV.         AS  WE  DO  GOOD  WORKS,  LET  US  REMEMBER  THAT  CHRISTIAN  LABOR  IS  NOT  IN  VAIN
             (1 Corinthians 15:58)

V.          AS  WE  DO  GOOD  WORKS,  LET  US  OBSERVE  HOW  CHRISTIAN  LABOR  IS  A  LABOR  OF  LOVE
             (1 Thessalonians 1:2-3; 1 Corinthians 13:3)

VI.         AS  WE  DO  GOOD  WORKS,  GOD  REMEMBERS  THEM  (Hebrews 6:10)

Conclusion:

         1. Each person will be judged according to his own work (1 Corinthians 3:8).
         2. According to Revelation 14:13, rest is in store for Christian labor.
