JESUS CAN HELP US WHEN WE ARE TEMPTED (HEBREWS 2:16-18)

Raymond Sieg/07/30/2023

Introduction:

         1. The apostle John warned against teachers who denied that Jesus came in the flesh (1 John 4:1-3).
         2. John showed that Jesus did come in the flesh (1 John 1:1-3; John 1:14).
         3. These verses in Hebrews 2 explain why it was necessary for Jesus to come.
             a. (vs.17) He came so "that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest."
             b. (vs.18a) While He was on earth Jesus "suffered being tempted."
             c. Consequently, Jesus is able to assist us when we are tempted (vs.18b).
             d. The same information is presented in Hebrews 4:15-16.
         4. In our lesson we are listening to John tell us in his Gospel about 10 temptations that Jesus suffered.
         5. Doing so will help us know that "Jesus can help us when we are tempted."

IX.         JESUS  SUFFERED  FROM  "PHYSICAL  NEEDS"  (John 19:28-29)

X.          JESUS  SUFFERED  "DEATH"  (John 19:30)
