The late sister had a rare skin disease that weakened her immune system. Because of that, she succumbed to severe pneumonia and died in a local hospital in San Fernando City, La Union.

Christians in La Union, Baguio City and in other places expressed their condolences to Alma R Gurtiza's family, relatives, friends and fellow saints, specially to brother Ismael Gurtiza of San Fernando City congregation.
