LET US MAKE 2 OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE LORD'S WORKS
(MARK 7:31-37)
​Introduction:
1. In these verses Mark tells us about the occasion when Jesus healed a man who suffered from deafness
and a speech impediment.
2. In vs.37 we read about the reaction of those who were present.
3. From this reaction, "let us make 2 observations about the Lord's works."
4. Before we do so, let us consider . . .
Discussion:
I. WHY WE NEED TO STUDY PASSAGES THAT TEACH US ABOUT THE LORD'S WORKS
A. The Bible does not record all of the Lord's works (John 21:25).
B. According to John 20:30-31, the Lord's works that are recorded lead us to believe that He is God's Son.
C. Also, we learn from Luke 7:19-23 that the Lord's works lead us to continue to believe that He is God's Son.
D. Let us turn our attention to . . .
II. 2 OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE LORD'S WORKS
A. First, the Lord did His works "well."
1. Jesus complied with the wise words found in Ecclesiastes 9:10a.
2. Jesus had a fervent desire to please the Father (John 8:29b).
3. The response of the people in Mark 7:37 was: "He hath done all things well."
B. Second, the Lord's works were "astonishing."
1. At the age of 12 the Lord's understanding was astonishing (Luke 2:46-47).
2. The Lord's "doctrine" [teaching] was astonishing (Mark 1:21-22).
3. The Lord's raising of Jairus' daughter was astonishing -- the people present "were astonished with
a great astonishment" (Mark 5:22-24, 35-42).
4. The response of the people in Mark 7:37 was: they "were beyond measure astonished."
Conclusion:
1. A wise message is presented in Psalm 118:8.
2. To help us "trust in the Lord," let us remember that:
a. He does all things well
b. His works are astonishing.
